Are You Sick of Being Sick?

As a child, I was sick a lot—A LOT. It always started with a little sniffle, then the cough would come, and before long, I’d be curled up in bed with double ear infections, full-blown bronchitis and sometimes pneumonia. I lived on antihistamines, decongestants, inhalers, etc. like and carried a box of tissues almost everywhere. But nothing ever really helped; I just kept getting sick.

The diagnosis was allergies. Because my mom had them, it was just assumed I inherited “bad lungs” and would have to live with breathing issues forever. So, I did... for a while.

Then something happened that changed everything.

I was having one of my usual “attacks” at a friend’s house—you know the drill: wheezing, sneezing, coughing, runny nose….I was miserable and embarrassed! Then a lady handed me a small amber bottle. “Just smell this,” she said with a calm confidence. I didn’t know what it was, but I was desperate, so I took a few tentative whiffs.

Something shifted almost immediately. My chest relaxed. My breathing eased and I could feel my sinuses opening up. I didn’t know what was in that little bottle, but I knew I needed to find out.

That moment was my introduction to the world of essential oils—and it was just the beginning.

Since then, I’ve learned that my body is designed to heal and so is yours. But we have to give them the right tools. For me, that meant saying goodbye to harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances and hello to clean, natural living.

Essential oils became my first step, but the journey expanded:

💧 Clean water – filtered and not from plastic bottles

🥦 Real food – fresh, local, organic foods

🌿 Herbs and supplements – from plants and not made in a laboratory

💤 Rest and sleep – 8 hours in a dark room without electronics

🚶‍♀️ Movement – walking, stretching, resistance training

🧠 Mindset – positive thoughts lead to positive, uplifting words

All of it matters. Every choice we make either moves us closer to wellness or farther from it.

And guess what? I haven’t had a serious breathing issue in years. I haven’t needed antihistamines in years - not because I “got lucky,” but because I finally learned how to support my body, naturally.
